Be Their Match

April 2023

CQS in collaboration with Choose Life, organizes the campaign “Be Their Match!” for Volunteer Bone Marrow Donors, so that each one of our team members can become, simply with a swab, the heroine or hero of hundreds of young and old who suffer from blood cancer.

How can I become a volunteer donor?

The first step for all of us is information. CQS, recognizing the importance of adequate and responsible information for the registration process in the Greek and global pool of volunteer donors, organizes 2 online meetings with the professor of Hematology, director of the Institute of Cellular Therapies and the Transplant Unit of the University Hospital of Rio, Mr. Alexandros Spyridonidis, to discuss any queries.

The open online meetings will be held on Wednesday, May 3 and Friday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m.

Afterwards, at our buildings in N. Ionia and Votanikos, an action will be organized with the support of the Choose Life Organization, for those who wish to become voluntary donors and join the global pool of Volunteer Bone Marrow donors.

Is it that simple to become a volunteer donor?

They need a heart full of love for their fellow person, be between 18 and 45 years old, and be healthy.

Can the sampling procedure be done from home?

If any of the CQS members working remotely would like to volunteer, they will be sent an envelope containing the registration form, instructions on how to collect the oral swab (saliva), and the necessary materials.

After the collection process is completed, the sample will be sent to a specialized laboratory for tissue identity testing and anonymously, with a code number, the volunteer is registered in the National and Global Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor Registry.

What if I’m compatible?

Then, We Match ! 😊 If the volunteer donor is found to be compatible with a patient in need of a transplant, they will be informed and asked if they will continue with the donation process. If so, they are called for the necessary tests, as the donor must be completely healthy, to have the opportunity to give life to another human being!

The donation is made by drawing blood with a method called leukapheresis.

The process is like donating blood and is painless!

Be their match, it’s in your blood!
